July is a great month, long sunny days (I hope) and heat. This month though is known for July 4th our Independence, fireworks, BBQ’s and the like. Have you ever looked at the meaning of Independence? It means freedom from control. As I think of it, so does the Cross. We are free from the control of our sinful nature.

Romans 6:11b (NIV) “count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

We have a lot to celebrate as Christians. No amount of fireworks could express my joy in the understanding that it is no longer I who lives, but Christ that lives within me. We are free from the control of sin because we gave Christ control of our lives. Let us live so the world can see Him in each of us.
